Shadowed Land Avathar by Grrrod Shadowed Land Avathar by Grrrod
Laurelin illuminating all of Valinor bar the deep shadows in Avathar. Is that Ungoliant's hidey-hole?

A rapid-fire rock-fest scribbled out while between tasks at work.

Yes. I bent the view a bit and the Pelori got lowered on the left side for the sake of composition. Can't win 'em all. ;-)

A great landscape! This place is not usually seen in illustrations...

Yes exactly. I'm trying to stay away from anything seen in the films... as those versions are somewhat definitive, and re-creating someone else's work is just boring. I think i'll draw some Black Numenoreans next.

I agree with that, there is not much place for fantasy there, but there is so much in the books that it is no problem. Ooh, and Black Numenoreans! Looking forward to it! Once you could draw Habbanan, from this poem [link]

If you've ever seen the filme "Cocoon", you'll know the look I was going for... kind of like one of the fibre-optic gadgets you can buy with the illuminated wires.
